The life of a gentleman is one of leisure and sport, of tasteful luxury and courteous restraint. Unfortunately, in order to be a productive member of society, the gentleman must interact with others who are not necessarily like-minded.
Other than a bad run in Monaco or perhaps a rainy summer in Newport, it can be said that most of the gentleman’s unpleasantness is derived from the inconsiderate behavior of others. When the poor comportment of those around you becomes too much to bear, take a page from your landed forefathers and get your fiefdom in order.
Assert your decorous superiority, and send those slovenly serfs back to their plots to think about what they’ve done. With the right tone and a reproachful look dignified order will be restored. A veiled threat or two never hurt either.
